About:
Berenice Kernizan, is a certified Doula based in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.A. in Psychology, and a Minors in Women's Studies. Her passions include: Reproductive Health, educating her community through local resources, Maternal & Child Health development, thrifting, and playing the role of comedian at family gatherings.
Her goal is to pursue a career in Midwifery and a Masters in Public Health. Born Haiti, she speaks fluent Haitian Creole, Berenice migrated to the U.S. at the age of four. Growing up she always wanted to be of assistance. One of her earliest memories was of receiving an award at her elementary school graduation, where she was presented with a community service award. She's always had an interest in the way behavior affected other people, and vice versa. Knowing that support is the first step to strengthening quality of life. Her work reaffirms that wellness is not a one person job, It truly takes a village.
Berenice, believes that all women should have the right to bodily autonomy, and that skin color shouldn't restrict an individual from receiving quality care, and the access to said care.
Her mission is to assist individuals find their voice and footing. How? By ensuring that in your time of need, you are supported. It means never judging or shaming you for decisions. It means being willing to listen, and provide tools that aid in healing. It simply means just being there.
